We are trying all sorts of things to expand the possibilities of WordPress, but it could also be said that we are trying to do too many things and are no longer able to break even.
So I decided to narrow my focus and become a professional in something. The best plugin I've ever come across is "BuddyBoss," so I decided to become an expert in it, and to be second to none. It can be integrated with various functions, not just as a standalone plugin.
On the other hand, there are also high-level plugins that are just as good as "BuddyBoss."
That's "PeepSo".
At the time of writing, the version is 6.2.1, but I have been following it tenaciously since around 3.0. Even plugins that were buggy and unstable at first become stable with repeated updates. That can be said for any plugin. PeepSo is now in a stable period.
PeepSo integration with WooCommerce and Dokan PeepSo, Easy Digital Downloads and WPAdverts integrationWhat you can do is almost the same as "BuddyBoss". It allows you to create a members-only SNS community site. This alone covers all the basics of membership functions.
Here's one big difference.
"BuddyBoss" comes with a bulletin board function that is an evolution of bbPress as standard. This is a beautiful bulletin board that you will want to use just for that. It's hard to believe that it's the same as bbPress.
"PeepSo" does not have a bulletin board function. It is not available as an add-on either. You can install bbPress and wpForo, but there is no integration function. You can only integrate them by using an external paid plugin.
This is probably the first time in the world that the difference between "BuddyBoss" and "PeepSo" is clearly stated. No overseas article on "BuddyBoss" vs. "PeepSo" has mentioned this. Comparing which one is better, the conclusion is that you should use them according to your purpose.
However, both have a group feature (PeepSo is an add-on), which is similar to Facebook groups, but allows you to create groups on a certain topic within the site and interact with only those in that group.
Create a membership site for baseball and create a group for just one baseball team. Only fans of that team can become members of that group.
Bulletin boards and groups are different, but their purpose is similar, so it seems like you could use just one of them. With that in mind, PeepSo seems like it would be enough.
Another difference is that "BuddyBoss" is an evolved version of "BuddyPress" and is based on "BuddyPress," whereas "PeepSo" is a completely original plugin.
While "BuddyBoss" covers all of its functionality with one or two plugins, "PeepSo" uses more specialized add-ons to add the necessary functionality.
Chat feature
Friend feature
Group Function
Photo Features
Video and audio features
To add these you need paid add-ons. BuddyBoss includes almost everything.
Because of these slight differences, I personally actively use and recommend "BuddyBoss" because it is easier to manage, but "PeepSo" also has its own unique charms.
You can subdivide the functions you want to use to make it lighter.
It also has extensions and integrations that are not available in "BuddyBoss" or "BuddyPress"
It can be implemented in various themes, not just dedicated themes.
etc···
If you want to create a unique SNS community site that no one else can imitate, "PeepSo" is the only option.
So my personal rating for now is
"Buddy Boss"
"PeepSo"
Quite down
"BuddyPress"
That's the feeling I get. That's why I'm constantly updating "PeepSo."
That alone makes it no exaggeration to say that they are now the most knowledgeable people in Japan.
I recommend "BuddyBoss" because it has a bulletin board function and is highly extensible, but I also like "PeepSo" because it runs smoothly.
I have never seen anyone using it in Japan.
However, if you translate it, you can use it in a full Japanese environment. Very easily.
Even if you don't translate it, PeepSo comes with a Japanese translation (I don't know if it's still available now)
However, it is an old version with missing translation strings and some mistranslations.
So I think you can understand and use it as is.
However, some of the information displayed may still be in English, so we recommend translating it into Japanese before using it.
